THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 she assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
